Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday expressed optimism regarding the future of Georgia-US relations following the US administration's approval of Tamar Taliashvili as Georgia's Ambassador to the United States.

Papuashvili emphasised the significance of the agrément, stating that “it is important that the agrément was received from the US presidential administration. Of course, it is important that Georgia will be represented by an ambassador in the United States”.

He highlighted that this development was offering renewed hope for a “reboot” in the relationship between the two countries.

“We remain committed to the proposal we have been discussing for some time: we want a true strategic partnership with the United States, based on the national interests of both nations”, Papuashvili concluded.

The Speaker further praised Taliashvili's suitability for the role, stating that “therefore, Tamar Taliashvili, as Ambassador, is the best candidate in this regard, and I am glad that she will be Georgia's representative in the United States”.
