PM appoints Givi Mikanadze as new Minister of Education, Science and Youth

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday appointed Givi Mikanadze as a new Minister of Education, Science and Youth.
In his remarks, Kobakhdze emphasised Mikanadze’s great experience in education, science and an in-depth academic education, which in his opinion was making him an ideal candidate for the said position.
“I would like to say a few words about Mikanadze’s experience in education and science. He has a deep academic education, is a lawyer, graduated from Tbilisi State University, as well as the University of Essex of Great Britain in England. He defended his doctoral dissertation at the Free University of Amsterdam. He has a great experience working in the public sector, as well as extensive political experience, and has great experience directly in education and science”, the Prime Minister said.
“For years, he was a lecturer at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was a teacher, lecturer at various universities, and is the author of a number of books and scientific papers. Accordingly, he has very deep experience in education and science. Also, as you know, for the last period, he held the position of Chair of the Parliament’s Committee on Education, Science and Youth affairs in the Georgian Parliament, therefore, we think that he is an ideal candidate for the post of Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. I would like to wish Mr. Givi success in this position”, he continued.
The Government Head extended his gratitude toward Aleksandre Tsuladze, the former Minister of Education, Science and Youth, for his work.
“The Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Mr. Aleksandre Tsuladze, has decided to resign from his position. I would like to thank him for his work. A lot has been done in the Ministry during this period, regarding which, a few days ago, we submitted a detailed report to the public. Once again, I would like to thank Mr. Aleksandre Tsuladze and wish him success in his future work”, he concluded.
