“Our course is right, EU’s needs fixing”, says Georgian Prime Minister

Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said the country’s foreign policy direction remains firm, suggesting instead that it is the European Union’s bureaucracy that needs a “course correction”.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze emphasised that Georgia’s path toward European integration is clear, but criticised the current trajectory of European institutions.
“I truly do not know where the European bureaucracy is steering the European Union. We are talking about the economy, among other things; the EU's share of the global economy was 30% in 2008, and it has now dropped to 17.5%. The data for 2025 will be even lower”, the PM said.
“It is the European bureaucracy that needs to correct its course to avoid the problems it is creating for the European Union entirely artificially. We have our course set; we know what our goal is. One of our primary foreign policy priorities is European integration. Our course is aligned, yet the European bureaucracy has been unable to align its own course to this day”, he concluded.
