Levan Zhorzholiani

Levan Zhorzholiani, the head of the Georgian government administration, on Friday emphasised that economic and political cooperation among the South Caucasus countries was essential for ensuring prosperity, stability, and long-term peace in the region.

Speaking at a panel discussion within the framework of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Zhorzholiani noted that Georgia has achieved strong economic results over the past four years, including an average growth rate of 9.3% and 8.4% growth recorded in January-February of the current year.

“Our priority is economic development. Peace and the economy are closely interconnected. Over the past four years, we have had the highest indicators in Europe. The average economic growth rate of our country was 9.3 percent, and in January-February of this year, we recorded 8.4 percent economic growth. Economic and political cooperation among the South Caucasus countries is very important to ensure prosperity, a strong economy, and, most importantly, peace and stability in the region”, he said.

He also underlined that Georgia’s economic success was supported by a favourable business environment, strong international rankings, and efficient public administration.

“The basis of such economic growth is the ease of doing business. According to international indices, we are in a leading position. We also have strong indicators in terms of bureaucracy. The state is doing everything to support and attract foreign direct investment, strengthen infrastructure, and improve connectivity. Georgia’s geographic location is one of its key advantages, and we are doing everything to ensure well-developed infrastructure and implement major projects such as the Anaklia deep-sea port and the Black Sea submarine cable. We believe that only this type of cooperation is the key to success”, Zhorzholiani concluded.
