Georgian Parliament Speaker on revolutionary scenario for opposition: exposure of this story is shame for EU

Georgian Parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday said that the disclosure of an attempt to draft a revolutionary scenario for the opposition was “a shame for the European Union”, adding that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
Papuashvili’s remarks came after Imedi TV on Thursday reported that the Georgian opposition is following a revolutionary scenario authored by Igor Blaževič, a prominent leader of the Prague Civil Society Centre.
“This is a shame for the European Union. We will look into this in detail - what exactly we are dealing with and who the individuals holding Georgian passports are who are so openly involved in intelligence-linked projects”, he noted.
Responding to a question about why the opposition would need a “trainer”, Papuashvili claimed that activities previously funded and organised by American sources during the former US administration had now shifted to the EU.
“What used to be financed and organised from American sources during the previous US administration has now moved to the European Union. If earlier it was Ackerman, who was drafting scenarios of division, hostility, and unrest in Georgia, after the Trump administration halted such harmful funding, all of this has shifted onto the EU. Any such unrest must now be financed and organised from the EU”, the speaker said.
Papuashvili added that this, in his view, reflects a “civilisational gap”, accusing the EU of gradually transforming from a peace project into one associated with confrontation and instability.
“The disclosure of this story is a shame for the EU. We will thoroughly investigate who these Georgian passport holders are, openly participating in such projects. I hope this will all be brought to light and the public will see everyone identified by name. Just as Ackerman was a project of foreign intelligence services, this Czech individual is also a project of foreign intelligence services, aimed at encouraging anti-democratic processes in Georgia, overthrowing the government, and installing puppets in power. We will pursue this issue to the end”, Papuashvili concluded.
