Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday addressed the Georgian Defence Forces, celebrating their 35th anniversary with a keynote speech highlighting the military's institutional strength and the government’s commitment to peace.
During the ceremony held at the Vaziani military base, Kobakhidze emphasised that the nation's defense capabilities have reached an unprecedented level of maturity and modernization.
The prime minister pointed to the structural advancements within the military, noting that Georgia now operates under “the highest, modern standards”.
"We have a General Staff, regional commands, and special units of the highest modern standards. Our most important priority - military education and the upbringing of future generations - is served at a highly professional level by the National Defence Academy and the Cadets’ Military Lyceum”, he said.
He reiterated that while the government remains steadfast in its policy of peace, the army remains the ultimate guarantor of national sovereignty.
“Today, as the world and our region face numerous complex challenges, our government continues to pursue a consistent policy of peace. Peace is the foundation for the country’s unity and development. At the same time, the Georgian army is always ready to defend our land and ensure the safety of our people. Our state consistently relies on your strength and professionalism”, Kobakhidze continued.
Addressing new recruits, the prime minister noted that their oath symbolises a great responsibility for safeguarding the nation’s security and stability.
“I believe your service will become the foundation of the lasting peace that is essential for our country’s progress and the well-being of every citizen”, he added.
Kobakhidze concluded by congratulating the Defence Forces on their anniversary, expressing hope and blessing for the country and its servicemen.
“Once again, I congratulate you on Defence Forces Day and the 35th anniversary. May God protect our country and each of you”, the prime minister stated.
