Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday congratulated the Georgian professional mixed martial artist Merab Dvalishvili on his successful defence of his UFC Bantamweight championship title.

“Merab Dvalishvili retained the UFC championship belt”, Kobakhidze said in a social media message.

Dvalishvili on Sunday showcased his prowess in the UFC 311 Bantamweight division, successfully defending his championship belt against Umar Nurmagomedov in a thrilling five-round battle.

The fight began with a competitive edge, as the first two rounds saw both fighters exchanging blows and leveraging their unique skills.

However, Dvalishvili gained momentum in the third round, executing two decisive takedowns and establishing dominance.

In the fourth and fifth rounds, the Georgian champion, known as “The Machine”, maintained control with relentless pressure and superior grappling, leaving no doubt about his superiority.

The judges unanimously declared Merab Dvalishvili the winner, extending his winning streak to 12 fights and cementing his status as a formidable force in the Bantamweight division.
