Georgia’s economy grows by 8.8% in February 2026, maintaining strong momentum

In February 2026, Georgia’s economy expanded by 8.8%, with the average economic growth for January-February reaching 8.4%, according to the Ministry of Economy.
The positive trends and high growth clearly indicate that the country’s economy remains resilient despite external shocks, geopolitical tensions, and other challenges.
The significant contributors to February’s economic growth included increased activity in the information and communication, transport and warehousing, financial and insurance, manufacturing, education, mining, and healthcare sectors.
High economic growth was also supported by positive trends in external trade - exports increased by 22.9% to $1,026.7 million, while domestic exports (excluding re-exports) amounted to $659.7 million, marking a 70.0% increase.
According to current statistics, turnover among VAT-registered enterprises increased by 10.7% compared to the same month last year. Additionally, the number of newly registered enterprises rose by 30%, totaling 7,722.
Notably, 2025 was characterized by strong economic activity, with preliminary estimates indicating growth of 7.5% for the year. The trend of high economic growth continued into 2026, with January recording a 7.9% increase.
