Georgian PM says economic momentum opens new opportunities for tourism, aviation

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said Georgia was a leader in Europe in terms of economic growth, stressing that this pace of development made it possible to focus even more actively on the development of tourism and aviation in the country.
In his speech at the presentation of the Tbilisi International Airport expansion project, Kobakhidze emphasised that Georgia had recorded the highest economic growth rate over the past five years.
“Over the past five years, our average economic growth amounted to 9.3%, and our nominal economy grew from $16 billion to $37.5 billion. Of course, this pace of development enables us to take even greater and more active care in developing tourism and aviation in the country. Today is also an example of this”, the PM said.
“Today gives us confidence that our development pace will accelerate even further in the future. I would like to thank everyone - our foreign partners, the Ministry of Economy, and everyone who participated in preparing this agreement. I wish you success”, he concluded.
The French aviation group Groupe ADP, which is one of the largest operators of international airports on the global market, will invest approximately $150 million as part of the next stage of the development of Tbilisi Airport.
