Alexander Breus’ solo exhibition “Cain’s Dream” opens at Darbazi Porakishvili
Cain’s Dream, a solo exhibition by artist Alexander Breus, opened this Friday at Darbazi Porakishvili. The exhibition brings together a compelling collection of paintings, lithographs, and sculptures that explore themes of fear, guilt, memory, and human alienation through a deeply symbolic and archetypal visual language.
Utilizing monumental figures, stripped-back theatrical settings, and evocative imagery, Breus confronts profound emotional states of isolation and collective trauma.
His work draws on a diverse range of influences - from religious iconography and ancient monuments to pagan imagery and the nostalgic aesthetics of hand-painted toys - transforming personal and historical experiences into universal visual narratives.
Ultimately, Cain’s Dream presents a world where humanity is gradually becoming detached from its own nature, offering a powerful visual reflection on collective guilt, loss, and the distortion of memory.
