Georgian Parliament official: speculation over David Gareji issue runs counter to Georgia’s national interests

Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, said on Wednesday that speculation surrounding the David Gareji issue runs counter to Georgia’s national interests, describing recent developments as unpleasant and expressing hope that the situation will become clear soon.
Samkharadze made the remarks in response to a report by domestic outlet Asaval-Dasavali concerning former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
“Any speculation regarding David Gareji is directed against the country’s interests. As for this particular development, of course, this is certainly not a pleasant process, and I hope that everything will become clear very soon”, Samkharadze said.
