Georgian Deputy Economy Minister: Anaklia Deep Sea Port to strengthen Georgia’s role as Europe-Asia hub

Tamar Ioseliani, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, on Wednesday highlighted the strategic importance of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, pointing to strong international interest in the project and ongoing construction works.
In an interview with Imedi TV, Ioseliani stressed that the deep-water port represents more than an expansion of Georgia’s domestic port infrastructure, describing it as a key component of regional connectivity and a major driver of the Middle Corridor’s transport capacity.
“This is not merely a project aimed at increasing Georgia’s port capacity; it is a very important project for the region and, particularly in the context of the Middle Corridor, an extremely important project that will enable the entire Middle Corridor transportation system to increase its throughput capacity and volumes. Accordingly, Georgia’s role in this context will be very important”, she said.
“We will strengthen our position as a hub connecting Europe and Asia, and we are taking the necessary steps in this direction. Construction works are currently underway in the waters of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port”, Ioseliani added.
