Irakli Burdiladze, the Managing Partner at White Square LLC, on Monday rejected claims that the Georgian Government had a pro-Russian course.
Burdiladze’s comments came after the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday held a meeting with the representatives of large businesses in the country. The meeting discussed the latest developments in the country as well as the Government's vision and future priorities regarding the current processes.
In his remarks, Burdiladze highlighted the importance of active continuation of the implementation of the obligations outlined under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area and the Association Agreement with the European Union.
“I do not think that today the country has a pro-Russian course. There are problems in Georgia, just like around the world, but I think that the solution exists. I am talking from the perspective of the economy and business”, Burdiladze said.
“Today, the Prime Minister also spoke about the fact that the implementation of the obligations under the DCFTA and the Association Agreement is actively continuing, which is very important. On the European Union accession path, Georgia has many issues to sort out, and this process is not an easy one. In this regard, the implementation of the requirements under the DCFTA and the Association Agreement is of paramount importance. Work in this direction has not stopped, which is very good. The political situation that exists in the region today obliges us, as was noted at a meeting, to exercise some caution”, he concluded.
