Georgian Economy Minister: Georgia ready to be reliable partner in emerging trade corridors

Mariam Kvrivishvili, the minister of economy and sustainable development of Georgia, on Tuesday said that Georgia was deliberately shaping itself into a state where Europe and Asia were not only geographically connected but also effectively integrated.
In her speech at the presentation of the historic renewal of Georgian Railways, Kvrivishvili noted that the country’s geographic location provides a unique advantage, but its effective use is a conscious national choice.
She noted that the past year has been a turning point for Georgian Railways, which has entered a new stage of development where efficiency, quality of management, and results have become top priorities.
Kvrivishvili emphasised that the railway system serves as a backbone for the country’s economic future, regional role, and global integration.
“Recent developments in the world and our region have clearly shown how fragile traditional routes can be. Risks have increased, and there is growing demand for new, reliable, and predictable corridors. That is why the Middle Corridor has become especially important, and why the growing interest in Georgia is not accidental but a logical outcome”, she said.
Kvrivishvili added that Georgia is ready to take responsibility as a reliable partner, describing this role not only as an economic opportunity but also as a matter of national importance.
“We are actively working with Azerbaijan, Central Asian countries, and China. Through joint efforts, the Middle Corridor is no longer just a prospect - it is becoming a real and increasingly competitive alternative in global trade”, Kvrivishvili concluded.
