Georgia’s ruling party official signals openness to better ties if Ukraine administration revises its approach to Georgia

Levan Machavariani, the first deputy chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Tuesday said that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his administration have made “numerous mistakes” in their approach toward Georgia, but relations can still be repaired if those missteps are acknowledged.

Machavariani responded to a critical statement released by the movement United Neutral Georgia, which expressed frustration over seeing Georgian high-ranking officials alongside President Zelenskyy, describing him as a figure who “did everything to discredit our country's international image”.

“We do not agree with the United Neutral Georgia because, yes, of course, Zelenskyy and his administration made many mistakes in relation to Georgia, but if they realise all of this and try to correct those mistakes, we should think about the future. These relations should be restored and developed at all levels. We have conceded nothing in relation to the EU. Accordingly, we continue our path with preserved sovereignty and dignity”, the official said.
