Georgia’s economy grew by 6.2% in April 2026, while the average economic growth rate for January-April reached 8.3%, said on Friday Vakhtang Tsintsadze, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Commenting on the latest economic indicators, Tsintsadze said the Georgian Government continues to work toward maintaining the country’s high economic growth trend.
He further added that April’s economic growth was broadly diversified, with significant positive contributions coming from the manufacturing, information and communication, transport and storage, education, healthcare, trade, and financial and insurance sectors.
Tsintsadze also highlighted positive trends in foreign trade, noting that Georgia posted record export figures. Exports increased by 21.1% to reach USD 2.44 billion, while domestic exports surged by 73.5%, totaling USD 1.55 billion.
“The Government of Georgia continues to work toward maintaining the current high economic growth trend, which is a natural way to create jobs. A number of state programs are actively supporting this process, including programs aimed at increasing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, which are now becoming more refined and acquiring new content”, Tsintsadze stated.
Summarizing the latest economic data, the Deputy Minister emphasised that Georgia holds competitive advantages compared to other countries in the region, including free trade agreements with both the European Union and China.
He also noted that Georgia remains attractive to both international and local investors.
He stressed that these developments are driven by the Georgian Government’s sound economic policy, fiscal discipline, effective monetary policy, and the overall stability of the financial sector - factors that have been repeatedly highlighted by international financial institutions and rating agencies in their assessments.
“As a result, we expect the high economic growth trends observed in Georgia over the past five years to continue both in 2026 and in the years ahead. Georgia will remain distinguished not only in the region but also globally in terms of economic growth”, Tsintsadze concluded.
