Amid ongoing conflicts and security challenges across the region, Georgia is pursuing a cautious and principled foreign policy, said on Sunday Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.

In an interview with Imedi TV, responding to a question about how Georgia has managed to maintain a balanced diplomatic approach, Botchorishvili stressed that the country continues to face persistent risks and must exercise exceptional caution.

“It may be an overstatement to say we have gone through this period calmly, but we have indeed managed to navigate it. Nevertheless, the risks remain constant. We must exercise exceptional caution, particularly given that multiple conflicts are unfolding across the broader region. Under these circumstances, our policy must be meticulously calibrated, principled, and at the same time cautious. In the current geopolitical environment, we must act with far greater prudence and careful consideration than many other countries”, she said.

The Foreign Minister further highlighted the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor, describing its development as a matter of global interest.

“The Middle Corridor has the potential to deliver significant benefits to all stakeholders. This is not about the interests of a single player. The existence and development of this corridor are in everyone's interest. Looking at the major global players today, it is fair to say that each of them has its own interest in the development of the Middle Corridor”, Botchorishvili added.
