Georgian Parliament Speaker: end of rules-based international order seen in turning global organisations into arenas of political conflict

The end of the rules-based international order is reflected not so much in a new wave of armed conflicts, but in the way international organisations have been turned into arenas for political warfare, said on Wednesday Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

In a social media message, Papuashvili noted that the network of organisations established after World War II, which were intended to promote peace, consensus and cooperation, have become platforms for encouraging conflicts and pursuing political retaliation.

“It is a fact that the network of organisations created after World War II, which were meant to promote peace, agreement and cooperation, have today, in the hands of certain political groups, become arenas for fuelling conflicts and political revenge”, he said.

“The deliberate injustice demonstrated towards Georgia clearly shows that the existing system of international cooperation and security requires a fundamental reset”, the Speaker concluded.
