Mariam Lashkhi, the First Deputy Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Wednesday said Serbia has made a final decision to open an Embassy in Georgia by the end of the year.

Members of the Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee are on an official visit to Serbia.

The main point of discussions concerns Georgia's European integration and the protection of the country's sovereignty and interests on this path.

In her remarks, Lashkhi noted that at today’s meeting with the Serbian Foreign Minister, the Georgian side would express its gratitude for Serbia’s constant and firm support for Georgia.

“A meeting will be held today with the [Serbian] Foreign Minister. First of all, the Georgian side will express its gratitude for the constant and firm support, which is expressed in the steps taken towards the sovereignty of our country and the policy of non-recognition [of the Russian-occupied territories], as well as for the support in international platforms”, the MP said.

“The final decision has been made and Serbia will open an Embassy in Georgia by the end of the year”, she continued.

She further highlighted that a decision was made to establish direct flights between the two countries.

“Ticket sales will begin today, and from June 15, both Georgian and Serbian tourists will have the opportunity to travel between the two countries”, Lashkhi concluded.
