Foreign policy priorities, security matters, EU integration, and trade development were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, and Serbia’s Foreign Minister Marko Đurić.

Samkharadze, along with other members of the visiting Georgian parliamentary delegation, held discussions aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.

Security challenges in the region and mutual support in international formats were also key topics of the meeting.

“We discussed the situation in the [Russian] occupied territories, providing information on the current developments in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region. The Minister explained Serbia’s policy regarding Kosovo in detail. We also addressed security matters in the Black Sea region, the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Georgia’s role in the region. We agreed to continue supporting each other in international formats, and our positions on each other’s territorial integrity remain unchanged”, the Parliament official said.

During the meeting, Samkharadze highlighted Georgia’s ongoing challenges regarding its occupied regions, while Serbia provided insights into its stance on Kosovo.

“With the Chair of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee, we discussed security issues, including the resolution of the Kosovo issue. The Serbian side presented their perspective on how the Kosovo issue could be resolved within the framework of international law. We also addressed the occupation of Georgian territories, the daily challenges it posed for Georgian citizens, and our peaceful approach to restoring our territorial integrity”, Samkharadze concluded.
