Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said Georgia views Kyrgyzstan not only as an important and reliable partner but also as a friendly state, citing the existing political and economic ties between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan.
Speaking at a joint briefing with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Kobakhidze expressed confidence that his visit to Kyrgyzstan would give fresh impetus to bilateral relations.
“It is a great honor for me to be in Kyrgyzstan today together with the official delegation. Although our peoples and countries share close historical ties, as has been noted, this is the first visit at the highest level between our two countries. Therefore, it can rightly be described as historic”, he said.
“I hope, and I am convinced, that this visit will give a new impetus to Georgia-Kyrgyzstan bilateral relations. We had a very interesting and substantive discussion on bilateral ties and also addressed various issues on the regional and international agendaIt is noteworthy that the President of Kyrgyzstan and I signed a joint statement, along with several bilateral documents that will create favorable conditions for closer cooperation in the future”, Kobakhidze noted.
He thanked his friends for their warm hospitality at the highest level.
“This year, Kyrgyzstan marks the 35th anniversary of its independence, and on this important occasion, Mr. President, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations and wish you and the friendly people of Kyrgyzstan peace and prosperity”, he continued
Kobakhidze expressed gratitude for Kyrgyzstan’s firm, unconditional and consistent support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Given the existing political and economic relations, Georgia views Kyrgyzstan not only as an important and reliable partner, but also as a friendly state. This is built on the solid foundation of the historic friendship between our peoples and countries”, he said.
“During the expanded-format meeting, we discussed a broad range of issues related to Georgia-Kyrgyzstan cooperation, as well as matters of regional and global importance. Particular attention was paid to bilateral trade and economic cooperation and the importance of its further development. It was noted that there is significant potential to expand this cooperation further”, Kobakhidze concluded.
