Georgia’s State Security Service arrests two individuals on charges of large-scale fraud, forgery

Officers of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Georgian State Security Service on Tuesday arrested two individuals on charges of large-scale fraud and forgery.
As the State Security Service noted, the case concerns the fraudulent supply of horse meat instead of beef to kindergartens in Marneuli and Kareli municipalities.
“The investigation established that the companies BGM.1 and Georgian Meat Products Farm had won the tenders announced by the N(N)LE Union of Kindergartens in the Territory of Marneuli Municipality and the N(N)LE Union of Kindergartens in the Territory of Kareli Municipality, within the framework of which they were obliged to supply beef to kindergartens. In May 2026, the directors of the said commercial organizations fraudulently supplied horse meat to kindergartens instead of beef and, as a result, fraudulently appropriated a large amount of money belonging to the state budget”, the statement said.
The investigation is underway under Articles 180, Part 3, Subparagraph (b) and 197, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The offences carry penalties from 6 to 9 years’ imprisonment.
