OSCE PA adopts declaration, containing amendment calling on new Syrian Gov’t to revoke recognition of “independence” of Russian-occupied Abkhazia, Tskhinvali regions

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe on Thursday adopted a declaration, containing an amendment made by Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament and Head of Georgia's Permanent Delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
The amendment calls on the new Syrian Government to revoke the recognition of the “independence” of Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali regions, as well as the Ukrainian Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
“[I am] delighted that my amendment to the Porto declaration of the OSCE PA was supported by the assembly. It urges the Syrian Government to withdraw recognition of “independence” of Georgia’s regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali and Ukrainian regions of Donetsk Luhansk and recognize territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine”, Samkharadze said in a social media message.
