Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on European Integration, on Tuesday said that Georgia aims to restore political dialogue with the European Union and make fuller use of existing opportunities in bilateral relations for the benefit of citizens.
Makhashvili made the remarks during a meeting at the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where a Georgian parliamentary delegation discussed a wide range of issues related to Georgia-EU relations, regional cooperation, and future prospects for engagement.
He noted that the meeting focused on the importance of using existing opportunities within Georgia-EU relations more effectively, with the goal of restoring political dialogue and improving tangible outcomes for citizens.
“The delegation of the Parliament of Georgia had a very constructive meeting at the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We discussed a very broad spectrum of bilateral relations and the existing opportunities in this regard, and, of course, we emphasised the necessity of using these opportunities. We also had the opportunity to discuss Georgia-EU relations and to make full use of the opportunities that exist in Georgia-EU relations in order to reset these relations and restore political dialogue so that our citizens can benefit more from them”, Makhashvili said.
The official expressed hope that the visit would contribute to strengthening bilateral ties with Luxembourg and supporting efforts to normalise and reset relations between Georgia and the European Union.
“Of course, alongside areas of interest, we discussed the situation in the region, the Black Sea region, the South Caucasus, the conflicts in the wider region, but at the same time also the opportunities - whether in trade relations, logistics, transport, energy, or other areas. So in this regard, we also talked about further steps and planned future actions, and we hope that this visit will contribute both to the expansion and development of bilateral relations, as well as to the resetting of Georgia-EU relations”, he concluded.
