Georgian PM accuses OSCE of joining “shameful” campaign against Georgian Government

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday accused the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly of supporting what he characterized as an effort by European institutions to oust the government through sanctions, pressure and allegations, claiming that the goal was to install figures loyal to what he referred to as the “deep state”.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze dismissed a resolution adopted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly several days earlier as “absurd”.
“There is a well-known saying: What Peter says about Paul says more about Peter than it does about Paul. This saying best describes the absurd resolution adopted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly a few days ago. Like other European institutions operating under informal oligarchic influence, the OSCE has now openly joined a process aimed at changing the Government of Georgia through unfair and shameful accusations, sanctions, and other instruments of pressure and blackmail, replacing it with agents obedient to the deep state”, Kobakhidze said.
He also referred to statements by US President Donald Trump, former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, and other political leaders and analysts, arguing that they confirmed the existence and influence of what he described as the “deep state”.
“I would also like to recall the statements made by the current US President Donald Trump and former British Prime Minister Liz Truss: ‘Either we destroy the Deep State, or the Deep State destroys America’, and ‘We want to dismantle the British Deep State, which is older and more deeply rooted than the American one’. These striking statements by Trump and Truss, along with public remarks by other political leaders and analysts about the dangers of informal oligarchic influence and corporate governance, remove any doubt about the existence and influence of the deep state”, he continued.
“Against this backdrop, it is also logical that European politicians have accused Brussels, European institutions and the governments of most EU member states of being accountable not to their own voters but to the deep state. Accordingly, the policies they pursue are entirely driven by informal oligarchic interests”, Kobakhidze concluded.
