Georgia’s ruling party Sec Gen says Nauru’s decision marks important step for Georgia’s territorial integrity, hails Foreign Ministry’s active diplomatic efforts

Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday described Nauru’s decision to revoke its recognition of the independence of Georgia’s occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali as a correct and significant step.
In his remarks, Kaladze noted that the decision reflects the active work of Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and stressed that restoring the country’s territorial integrity remains one of the Government’s highest priorities.
“I believe this was a correct and important decision. It is the result of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ active work in every direction. Everyone understands how important our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are domestically, and it is equally essential to continue working on this issue internationally”, he said.
“Unfortunately, part of our territory remains under occupation, and this continues to be a serious challenge. One of our foremost priorities is to do everything possible to restore our territorial integrity and achieve peaceful coexistence with the Abkhazians and Ossetians. The Georgian Government is doing everything in its power to accomplish this”, Kaladze concluded.
