Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili: Georgia strives to become full-fledged member of EU

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Monday said the country was striving to become a full-fledged member of the European Union.

In his speech at the Ambassadors' Conference, Kavelashvili noted that European Integration was a “civilisational choice” of Georgian people, which was reinforced by “our Constitution” and was “as strong as ever”.

“Georgia strives to become a full-fledged member of the European Union. This is the civilisational choice of our people, which is reinforced by our Constitution and is as strong as ever. Unfortunately, recently, the European integration and the pro-Western course guaranteed by our Constitution have often been used for speculation both domestically and internationally. We have dealt with numerous speculations and we know that all of this unfortunately serves to polarise our society, therefore it is very damaging to the interests of our country, and it is our duty to confront such speculations with the truth. Despite the artificial agitation and powerful disinformation campaign created in the country today, Georgia's European integration process continues. By 2028, we will have implemented over 90 percent of the Association Agreement agenda, and we will be best prepared for European Union membership by 2030”, the Georgian President told the Conference.

“I am confident that together we will be able to successfully implement the process of Georgia's integration into European and Euro-Atlantic bodies, and ensure peace, stability, and economic prosperity for our country and people”, he concluded.
