Georgia’s ruling party Sec Gen says opposition acting as “puppets” in effort to spark disorder, Gov't change

Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Tuesday said a “decoded scheme” reveals how foreign forces have spent vast amounts of money over the years to establish agent networks in Georgia with the aim of influencing the country’s internal affairs.

Kaladze made the remarks while commenting on a recent statement by Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, who said that Georgia’s political cycle demonstrates how foreign interests are often pursued through the country’s opposition.

“They are puppets. The scheme is very simple: for years, funds have been allocated to create an agent network. Why was this network needed? To control the country, to become its masters—not the Georgian people, but several representatives of the so-called global war party. Can you imagine? That is their approach. Through this network, which cost huge sums to establish, they are trying to cause unrest, divide society, incite confrontation, even attempt a coup. It is a decoded and very straightforward scheme”, the ruling party official said.

He further expressed concern over what he described as hostile rhetoric from representatives of the “global war party” regarding Georgia.

“I don’t know if they will change. We already saw that the first promise made by the President of the United States was to defeat the so-called deep state, and the second was to end the war. Neither has been achieved yet. The process is ongoing, and of course we fully support President Trump in this. If it really happens, it will affect our country too. First and foremost, we care about our homeland, Georgia. Unfortunately, the wrong attitude shown by the representatives of the global war party - full of lies, slander, and misinformation - is unpleasant. We want this to change, and for there to be a fair approach toward our country”, Kaladze concluded.
