Ruling party official: Georgian President reaffirmed readiness to reboot relations with US

Levan Machavariani, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Saturday said that Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili had once again reminded US President Donald Trump of Georgia’s readiness to reboot relations.
In his remarks, Machavariani noted that Georgia had formally expressed its willingness to start a new chapter in bilateral relations and had proposed a specific roadmap to the United States.
“Mikheil Kavelashvili once again reminded Mr. Donald Trump of our readiness to reset relations. Our political readiness, rhetoric, political vision, worldview, and part of our values are fully aligned with the current US administration”, Machavariani said.
He further emphasised that Georgia was actively working to restore a genuine strategic partnership.
“Of course, we are in a state of expectation for real partnership to be restored. To this end, we are sparing no effort. We have sent several letters, both confidential and public, and the President [Mikheil Kavelashvili] also addressed a letter to remind Mr. Trump that we are in a state of expectation and that it would be desirable for Mr. Trump to take some steps in the shortest possible time. Moreover, we have proposed outlining a specific roadmap in time and space regarding the steps to be taken on our part to ensure that these relations start from a clean slate”, he concluded.
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Friday shared a social media post about attending a dinner hosted by the US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
The Georgian President also published a photo from the event.
“I attended a dinner held on behalf of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and First Lady Melania Trump. The event was organised in honour of the heads of delegations participating in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly”, President Kavelashvili said.
