Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili vows to uphold national values, sovereignty in New Year address

Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and Honorary Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday emphasised Georgia’s resilience and the party’s commitment to protecting national values and sovereignty in his 2026 New Year address.

In his New Year message, Ivanishvili reflected on Georgia’s achievements in 2025, highlighting the nation’s unity, resilience, and the political team’s pragmatic approach to challenges.

“Despite the most difficult challenges, in 2025, through the wisdom of the Georgian people and the balanced, calm, and pragmatic politics of our political team, we responded appropriately to every challenge, faced all external blows with dignity, and did not take a single step back in the fight for our homeland, our people, and Georgia’s sovereignty”, Ivanishvili said.

He emphasised that the party’s efforts were rooted in loyalty to the homeland, families, culture, and traditions, and in responsibility toward future generations.

“Of course, we do not intend to stop or give up in 2026 either, because behind us stand our homeland, our families, our culture, and our traditions; behind us stand our children. Therefore, there is simply no way back! We have no choice! We are obligated before our homeland, our nation, and our ancestors to protect every value and principle that has proudly carried our centuries-old people to the present day!” the ruling party founder continued.

Looking ahead to 2026, Ivanishvili reiterated that the ruling Georgian Dream party would continue its work without pause.

“Let no one be under the illusion that I personally, or our political team, will get tired in this unequal struggle. The most important thing is that our people, exactly as they have done so far, will clearly distinguish in 2026 who is the enemy of Georgia and who is a friend!” Ivanishvili concluded.
