Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Saturday summarised his working visit to Milan, noting that he had the opportunity to speak with US Vice President JD Vance and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a reception hosted by the International Olympic Committee.

In his remarks, Kavelashvili explained that the IOC dinner provided a natural setting for world leaders to engage informally.

“On the first day, many world leaders attended a reception hosted by the International Olympic Committee. This dinner was organised precisely to give us the opportunity to talk with one another, and in this format we had the chance to speak with US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio”, he said.

The President further noted that the discussion focused on the shared values of Georgia and the United States, and expressed hope that bilateral relations would continue to develop dynamically in the coming years.

“It was a very warm meeting. You know that the current administration stands on values that our country has upheld for years - national interests, family values. Incidentally, the Vice President was aware of our country’s Christian historical background and did not spare kind words; he also mentioned our Patriarch. We had such warm and positive relations. Our shared values were emphasised, and we hope that our relations will continue dynamically in the coming years, based on the impressions we formed of one another after this warm meeting”, Kavelashvili concluded.
