Georgian Parliament Speaker denounces criticism from individuals who have been part of Jeffrey Epstein’s political landscape

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday reacted to international criticism directed at Georgia amid the ongoing revelations linked to the Jeffrey Epstein files, stating that the situation represents not only a “civilisational abyss”, but a “human abyss”.
Speaking to the media, Papuashvili said that the wave of scandals connected to Epstein and his island has led to the resignation of high-ranking officials and diplomats in both the United States and European countries.
“On the backdrop of the scandal surrounding Epstein and his island, which has been unfolding recently, we are seeing one after another resignations of senior officials and diplomats in both the United States and European countries. And in this context, when we hear criticism from people who are part of this political landscape, only one response comes to mind: everyone should mind their own Epstein island”, the Speaker said.
He described the emerging details of the Epstein scandal as deeply disturbing, emphasising that the issue goes beyond politics.
“What we are witnessing and what is now being revealed is extremely serious. This is no longer a civilizational gap - it is a human gap, where it turns out that a large part of the political elite was involved”, the Speaker continued.
Papuashvili also referenced the recent resignation of the Chief of Staff of the British Prime Minister, claiming it was connected to the appointment of an individual whose name appears in the Epstein files.
