Georgian Parliament Speaker: European bureaucrats fear Georgia’s “truthful word”

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Thursday said the only thing European bureaucrats fear from Georgia is its “truthful word”, adding that this should be seen as recognition of the country’s strength.

In his interview with Imedi TV, Papuashvili noted that historically, truth has always prevailed, and Georgia must become even stronger in defending its position.

“The only thing they [European bureaucrats] fear from us is our truthful word, and rightly so, because historically the truthful word has always prevailed. We should take this as recognition of the strength of our word and become even stronger through it. There is not a single issue we have spoken about that has not been confirmed”, the Speaker said.

While discussing European democracy, the Parliament Speaker also referred to the visit of the President of Croatia to Georgia and recalled statements made during the visit.

“You know that today the President of Croatia is in Georgia on an official visit. Ask him what democracy means in Brussels’ understanding - he is a very sincere person and will answer honestly. The ashes that Brussels is trying to throw into our eyes have long been wiped away by the Georgian people. They clearly see the picture of what is happening in Brussels today - the values crisis, corruption cases, and even the human abyss we are witnessing, including revelations of connections between various European diplomats or officials and the Epstein scandal. We see all of this”, he continued.

The Speaker further stressed that the main goal of European bureaucracy was to silence Georgia.
