Imedi TV announces plans to launch Imedi Bank within months, reaffirms financial stability amid “cynical attacks”
Imedi TV has released a statement reaffirming its financial resilience and dominant position in the Georgian media market. The broadcaster emphasised that its primary value remains the trust of the Georgian people, which continues to drive its status as the highest-rated channel in the country.
Despite what the TV company describes as “cynical attacks” and “artificial hype”, Imedi TV assured its viewers that it faces no financial hurdles. The management highlighted a long-standing history of successfully attracting advertising and investment.
“For TV company Imedi, the only valuable assessment is the trust of the Georgian people. Thanks to this trust, we hold the highest ratings in Georgia. Despite the attacks against us involving cynical arguments and the created artificial hype, we want to tell our viewers that Imedi will not have any problems, including financial ones.
We are well aware of the expected risks to their business activities (be it negative PR, financial problems, or otherwise), which would lead us into a further downward spiral - we truly do not wish to put any of them at risk or have a hunt declared against them by forces whose direct involvement has resulted, for the second time since 2007, in an attack on free media and freedom of speech.
Imedi TV was born for victory. We continue to inform the public as usual, with tenfold energy. At the same time, we will ensure, without any delay, the payment of salaries, which, by the way, have already been increased - for absolutely every employee, as well as the fulfillment of all corresponding tax obligations.
Furthermore, we wish to inform the public that we, the new founders of the Imedi Holding, with the financial support of the television company’s loyal friends and sponsors, and in compliance with all relevant procedures, will establish our own bank named Imedi Bank in the shortest possible time -within just a few months”, the statement said.
