Georgian Parliament Speaker hails Trump Tower Tbilisi project as sign of Georgia’s strong investment climate

Georgian Parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday lauded the announcement of the Trump Tower Tbilisi project, framing it as a clear indicator of the country’s robust investment climate and global economic standing.

The project, recently unveiled by the Trump Organization and its partners, features a roughly 70-story skyscraper designed by the world-renowned architectural firm Gensler. Once completed, it is set to become the tallest building in Georgia.

In his remarks, Papuashvili emphasised that Georgia has become an “island of peace and stability” in a region increasingly marred by escalating conflicts.

“Georgia's governance is among the most successful, and every objective international study shows that Georgia is a leader in all aspects. Because of these conditions, a high-quality investment environment has been created. This project is a clear example of that, as Trump’s company is entering Georgia under its own name and brand, which means it is well familiar with the environment”, the speaker said.

Papuashvili highlighted that the entry of a brand as globally recognized as Trump serves as a significant endorsement of the Georgian market.

“Trump and his company cherish the reputation they have built over time, and it is with this very reputation that they are entering this business project, which is significant. This fact is also crucial for attracting investments in other sectors; when such a brand enters the market, it demonstrates confidence in Georgia and its potential. Consequently, it will not only encourage further investment but will also introduce a new standard to the overall real estate market”, he continued.

The speaker dismissed potential criticism from the opposition, suggesting they might attempt to label the project as an issue of “Americanization”. Instead, he pointed to data showing Georgia leading the world in terms of economic development rates.
