The upcoming elections in Hungary are extremely important not only for Hungary but for European countries in general, said on Friday Giorgi Kakhiani, the vice speaker of the Georgian Parliament.
According to him, Hungary has consistently supported Georgia’s interests, which is why the Georgian government is paying increased attention to the elections.
“These elections are very important not only for Hungary, but for European countries in general. That is why today the attention of the entire European community is focused in this direction. For us, the main thing is that these elections are conducted in accordance with international standards and that, ultimately, the will of the people is reflected”, Kakhiani said.
He also noted that in recent months, amid what he described as attacks on Georgia from certain EU bureaucrats, Hungary has continued to stand guard over Georgia’s national interests.
“Therefore, from this perspective as well, it is natural that our attention towards these elections has increased twofold”, Kakhiani concluded.
Georgian MPs will observe Hungary’s parliamentary elections within the framework of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. At the invitation of the Hungarian side, another group from the Georgian parliamentary delegation is already in Budapest as part of a parliamentary observation mission.
