Ilham Aliyev highlights strong ties in Independence Day message to Georgia

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday congratulated the Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and the Georgian people on the occasion of Georgia’s Independence Day.

In a congratulatory letter, Aliyev said that the intensity of the political relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan as well as the existence of active dialogue at the highest level created favorable opportunities for the further deepening of cooperation in all areas.

“Dear Mr. President, on the occasion of Georgia's national holiday - Independence Day, I sincerely congratulate you and the friendly people of Georgia on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan”, the President said.

“The current high level of Azerbaijan-Georgia friendship relations draws strength from the deep affection, respect, and trust that our neighboring peoples have nurtured toward one another over centuries. At present. The dynamic and comprehensive development of our interstate relations is a source of satisfaction”, he continued.

Aliyev recalled his recent visit to Georgia and expressed appreciation for hospitality and genuine friendship.

“I highly appreciate the outcomes of the state visit I paid to your friendly country last month, as well as the hospitality and genuine friendship you demonstrated during the visit. I recall with the warmest feelings our productive meeting and exchange of views, which took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and sincerity”, he noted.

Aliyev further expressed confidence that Azerbaijan-Georgia strategic partnership which was built on solid foundations and based on fine traditions would continue to strengthen and expand through joint efforts.

“The intensity of our political relations and the existence of active dialogue at the highest level create favorable opportunities for the further deepening of our cooperation in all areas”, the President continued.
