Georgian Parliament Speaker: Boris Johnson disrupted Russia-Ukraine agreement - since then, Ukraine has been at war for four years already, while Boris Johnson walks around peacefully and holds conferences

We support the end of the Russia-Ukraine war, as every day of this conflict means additional suffering for the Ukrainian people, said on Friday Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
Papuashvili was responding to a question regarding an open letter from Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Vladimir Putin, in which the Ukrainian leader called for an end to the war and direct negotiations at the leaders’ level.
“I do not think it is for us to assess [the letter]. We support the end of this war because every day it continues to bring additional suffering to the Ukrainian people. From the very first day, we have said that every opportunity should be used to establish peace”, he said.
“Unfortunately, we do not see such an approach from some European countries. Instead, we see them encouraging the continuation of the conflict. Let me remind everyone that two months after the war began, in April 2022, a peace agreement was initiated in Istanbul by the heads of the Ukrainian and Russian delegations”, the Speaker continued.
Papuashvili further added that the Ukrainian delegation was led by David Arakhamia, who stated that the terms were acceptable for Ukraine.
“They returned to Kyiv, and then the British Prime Minister arrived and disrupted the agreement. Since then, Ukraine has been at war for four years, while the former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson continues to attend conferences and seminars. This reflects an irresponsible attitude toward the fate of another country”, he noted.
“Unfortunately, Western countries demonstrated a similar attitude even before the war. This conflict could have been prevented. The US administration has acknowledged this, while the European Union, NATO, and the Western world at the time failed to do so. The war could have ended at the very beginning. The Ukrainian authorities themselves have confirmed this. Any initiative aimed at ending the war is important, and it is equally important that the terms be more or less acceptable”, Papuashvili concluded.
