Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Monday assessed the visit of the Georgian Government delegation to Kazakhstan, led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, noting that Georgia enjoys particularly close cooperation with Kazakhstan in the fields of transport, tourism, trade, and the development of the Middle Corridor.

In her remarks, Kvrivishvili emphasised that the visit was of great importance for Georgia, contributing both to the further development of the national economy and to the strengthening of friendly relations with Kazakhstan.

The Economy Minister further noted that the Georgian delegation would hold a number of important meetings with senior Kazakh officials throughout the visit.

“I believe this will be an important visit, including numerous bilateral meetings between the Prime Ministers of the two countries, as well as with the President of Kazakhstan. We will also hold bilateral meetings with our counterparts, during which we will discuss ways to further deepen relations between our countries”, Kvrivishvili said.

The Minister highlighted the important role of Georgia and Kazakhstan in the development of the Middle Corridor.

“I would especially like to highlight the role of our two countries in the context of the Middle Corridor, as cargo flows through the corridor are already growing significantly. We are cooperating very closely with Kazakhstan, and through joint initiatives, these efforts are translating into tangible results almost every month. We believe that during this visit we will place special focus on further cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors”, she continued.

Kvrivishvili noted that memorandums of understanding in the fields of tourism and information technology are expected to be signed during the visit to Kazakhstan.
