Ichiro Aisawa, a member of Japan’s House of Representatives and Chair of the Japan-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group, on Tuesday highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties between Japan and Georgia, calling for greater Japanese investment in Georgia and increased bilateral trade.
Aisawa made the remarks while assessing a meeting with Georgian officials, describing the discussions as productive and grounded in mutual trust and respect.
“Today, I had the opportunity to hold extensive and substantive discussions with Mr. Mezurnishvili, who has now visited Japan for the third time. Based on mutual trust and mutual respect, we agreed that economic relations between our countries should be elevated to an even higher level. It is important that both Japanese investment in Georgia and trade turnover between the two countries continue to grow”, he said.
He also underscored the role of the Japan-Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in fostering closer business ties.
“In this regard, the Japan-Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Industry is actively contributing to the development of bilateral economic relations. Japan’s former Ambassador to Georgia, Mr. Uehara, also plays an important role in its activities. We further noted that Georgia ranks seventh globally in ease of doing business and is internationally recognised as a country offering a favourable business environment”, Aisawa noted.
“We had a very good and meaningful conversation, and for that I am sincerely grateful”, he concluded.
