Georgian President appoints Natia Turnava as Governor of National Bank

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Friday appointed Natia Turnava as the new Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, following her unanimous nomination by the Bank’s Board.
Since June 2023, Turnava has served as the First Vice-Governor and Acting Governor of the Bank.
Turnava holds a Doctorate in Economics from the Tbilisi State University.
She earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Cumbria (UK).
She completed executive training at Harvard University, the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI), and other institutions.
Throughout her career, Turnava has held high-ranking positions both in public and private sectors.
She previously served as Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development and earlier as the First Deputy Minister.
Turnava became the first woman to lead the central bank of the country with the appointment.
