Georgian police seize large quantities of drugs, detain three foreign nationals

Officers of the Tbilisi Main Division of the Patrol Police Department of Georgia’s Interior Ministry on Wednesday detained three foreign nationals on charges of facilitating the illegal purchase, possession, and sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs.

Law enforcement officers seized significant quantities of narcotics intended for distribution, including Methadone and Marijuana, during searches of the suspects’ personal belongings and as a result of investigative activities conducted at several locations.

Investigators also confiscated equipment and materials allegedly used for packaging narcotics.

The investigation is ongoing. The alleged offenses carry penalties ranging from up to 20 years in prison to life imprisonment.
