Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, on Wednesday said Georgia continued to lead in economic growth both regionally and among European countries, exceeding forecasts by international financial institutions.
Speaking at the session “Trade, Investment, Sustainable Development in the Context of Global Challenges” within the framework of the Ambassadors’ Conference, Kvrivishvili highlighted Georgia’s strong macroeconomic performance despite global and regional challenges.
“In terms of economic growth, our country continues to maintain leadership both in the region and among European countries. During 2021-2024, average economic growth amounted to 9.8%, and this year we have already exceeded the forecasts of all international financial institutions, with average economic growth reaching 7.6%”, she said.
The Minister described 2025 as a challenging yet productive year for the Georgian economy, marked by stable growth across multiple sectors despite external pressures.
“Particularly noteworthy are the technology sector, transport, logistics, of course, tourism, the construction sector, trade, and agriculture. These sectors played a special role in this year’s economic growth”, she noted.
Kvrivishvili stressed that Georgia’s economic development was based on a diversified policy approach, which ensured sustainability and reduced dependence on any single country across key sectors.
She further described this diversification as one of the country’s major long-term achievements, resulting from years of consistent and collective effort.
The Minister noted that Georgia today was significantly less dependent on individual countries in its fundamental economic sectors, strengthening overall resilience, highlighting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, employment, and job creation.
“We constantly work to promote Georgian products and to help local entrepreneurs develop their sales networks. For this purpose, we offer them a wide range of instruments”, she said.
Concluding her remarks, Kvrivishvili emphasised that Georgia’s economic success was the outcome of many years of consistent policy implementation and close cooperation with international partners.
She noted that the support of the diplomatic corps, ambassadors, and partner countries has played a significant role in strengthening Georgia’s economic potential.
