Georgia’s Economy Minister announces action plan to address prices of food, medicines, fuel

Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, on Tuesday said the Government would engage in active communication with the private sector to address prices of essential goods, aiming to achieve tangible results within the coming months.

The governmental coordination commission on food prices, operating under the leadership of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, held its first meeting at the Government Administration.

Following the session, Kvrivishvili outlined the commission’s priorities and emphasised the Government’s commitment to stabilising prices of key consumer goods.

“We have developed a specific action plan within the framework of the commission, under which very active work will be carried out directly with the private sector in order to achieve tangible results in the coming months”, she said.

The Minister further noted that the Government expected to see results by the end of April.

“During the current period, we will hold very active meetings directly with representatives of the private sector - whether retail chains, distributors, or others, including product manufacturers. Our task is to achieve tangible results within this commission in the coming months, essentially by the end of April”, she concluded.

A governmental coordination commission chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will begin work on the prices of food products, medicines, and fuel. The decision was made at the commission’s first meeting, held on Tuesday at the Government Administration.

Commission members discussed an action plan for the coming weeks, which includes meetings with manufacturers, as well as representatives of retail chains and distribution companies.
