Natia Turnava, the governor of the National Bank of Georgia, alongside the NBG vice-presidents, will participate in the upcoming Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Washington.
The Georgian delegation will also include Georgian finance minister Lasha Khutsishvili, deputy ministers of finance Giorgi Kakauridze and Ekaterine Guntsadze, as well as vice presidents of the National Bank of Georgia Ekaterine Mikabadze, Ekaterine Galdava, and Nino Jeladze.
During the one-week visit, Turnava will hold meetings with the IMF’s deputy Managing director Bo Li, the director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department Jihad Azour, and the executive directors representing the Netherlands–Belgium–Luxembourg group at the IMF, Jeroen Clicq and Marnix van Rij.
The governor of the National Bank and the finance minister will also meet with investors from American investment companies J.P. Morgan and Bank of America, where they will present Georgia’s investment potential.
As part of the visit, Turnava will participate in a roundtable of central bank governors. This year’s discussion will focus on the role of central banks in the post-modern era.
Turnava will also hold a bilateral meeting with the governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates to discuss future cooperation opportunities between the two countries’ national banks.
Vice presidents of the National Bank of Georgia will also conduct high-level meetings within the framework of the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings.
The annual Spring Meetings bring together governors and alternate governors of the IMF and the World Bank, as well as representatives of the financial sector from nearly every country, central bank governors, finance ministers, and private sector executives. Participants discuss issues of global importance, including global economic outlooks, poverty reduction, economic development and financial stability, as well as cybersecurity and financial technologies.
