Georgian Foreign Ministry welcomes Nauru’s decision to sever “diplomatic ties” with Russian-occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions

Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday welcomed the Government of Nauru’s decision to terminate “diplomatic relations” with the entities referred to as “the South Ossetia, also known as the State of Alania”, and Abkhazia, expressing readiness to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nauru.
In a statement, the Ministry said the decision reaffirmed the importance of respecting international law as the foundation of healthy international relations.
“This decision once again confirms that respect for and adherence to the norms of international law constitute the foundation of sound international relations. Georgia expresses its readiness to establish diplomatic relations with Nauru and to promote the development of bilateral cooperation based on shared interests”, the statement said.
