Georgian FM: Georgia must pursue cautious security policy while outside NATO protection

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Monday emphasised the importance of pursuing a cautious policy and maintaining peace in the country, especially in the conditions when Georgia was not protected by the NATO security umbrella.
At a joint briefing, Botchorishvili thanked her Slovak counterpart Juraj Blanár for supporting the country's territorial integrity, noting it was precisely the pursuit of peace that united Georgia with Slovakia.
"Georgia is a country that knows the price of peace very well. Our history has shown us this. In conditions when our country is not protected by the NATO security umbrella, it is especially important to pursue a cautious policy in terms of security and do everything to maintain peace in the country. This is what our Government is doing. This is what we are fighting for and we greatly appreciate everyone's support when we talk about ensuring peace”, the FM said.
“All our efforts are aimed precisely at ensuring peace in our country and in our region. This is also what unites us with Slovakia, the pursuit of peace. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting the territorial integrity of our country. You spoke about this. We are grateful that Slovakia has consistently supported Georgia, Georgia's territorial integrity, the policy of non-recognition, which is also very important for our country”, she concluded.
