Georgian Parliament official: stoking Russophobia aimed at escalating tensions between Russia and Georgia, fulfilling external agendas

Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Regional Policy and Self-government Committee, on Friday said that attempts to fuel Russophobia in Georgia were aimed at escalating tensions between Georgia and Russia.
In his remarks, Kadagishvili noted that such efforts serve one purpose - to aggravate the situation between Georgia and Russia and use the resulting escalation to fulfill objectives set by external forces.
“The fact that Russia occupies Georgia’s territories is an extremely serious challenge for Georgia”, he said.
“However, the fact that certain forces, against this backdrop, are seeking to exploit this issue in a speculative manner to fuel total Russophobia, that is, to incite hostility between peoples, serves only one purpose - to somehow escalate the situation between Russia and Georgia and ensure that this escalation fulfills objectives set by external forces”, Kadagishvili concluded.
