PM’s report highlights Gov’t’s efforts to carry out specific reforms within 12 priorities defined by European Commission
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday presented a comprehensive report on the implementation of the Government program to the Parliament.
“In 2023, Georgia was granted the status of a candidate state for EU membership. This historic decision took the process of the country's accession to the European Union to a completely new level, in which Georgia's efforts to carry out specific reforms within the 12 priorities defined by the European Commission played a big role”, the report said.
The document stated that the European Commission last year assessed Georgia's progress for the first time within the scope of the so-called enlargement package.
The report underlined that in parallel with the cooperation with the member states of the European Union, the strengthening of the cooperation with other EU candidate countries was underway in order to share the experience acquired by them and study the best practices.
The report outlined the Georgian Government’s efforts to carry out specific reforms within the 12 priorities outlined by the European Commission.
“In the spring of 2024, the work was launched on the 2024 enlargement report, which will be delivered to the European Commission in early September. During the reporting period, Georgia made the most important efforts in terms of implementing both legislative and institutional reforms. In total, up to 25 new legislative acts were adopted and institutional changes were implemented in terms of enforcement of legislation in accordance with European regulations and directives”, the report noted.
Kobakhidze will personally present this detailed report to the Parliament on June 28, providing an opportunity for further discussion and evaluation of the Government's progress and plans.
