PM’s report highlights Gov’t’s efforts for safe return of internally displaced persons, refugees from Georgia's Russian-occupied territories

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday presented a comprehensive report on the implementation of the Government program to the Parliament.
The report highlighted that the Georgian Government was pursuing its efforts for the “safe and dignified” return of internally displaced persons and refugees from the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia.
The report also underlined that as a result of the active diplomatic steps taken by the Georgian Government, the issue of the occupation of Georgian territories by Russia and the challenges on the ground as a result of the occupation were relevant on the international agenda.
“During the reporting period, all diplomatic and legal tools were used to ensure international support and to actively put the issues of Russia's occupation of Georgian territories and the need for a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Georgia conflict on the international agenda”, the report said.
The report also highlighted that “the Georgian side continued active cooperation with the EU Monitoring Mission” and further added that “at all levels, Georgia raised the need for the EU Monitoring Mission to have access to the occupied territories, which was provided for by the mandate of the Mission”.
“The Georgian side continues making its efforts for the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons and refugees from Georgia’s Russian-occupied territories”, the report noted.
Kobakhidze will personally present this detailed report to the Parliament on June 28, providing an opportunity for further discussion and evaluation of the Government's progress and plans.
